Argentina's Independence Day

Coat of Arms of Argentina Today, July 9th, is Independence Day in Argentina.  Rather than recount the history of Argentina's struggle for independence from Spain – that's what Wikipedia's for – I will instead send you to read this humorous piece entitled "Love Freedom? Wear a Red Hat" about the symbolism found in Argentina's coat of arms.

¡Feliz Día de la Independencia!

You will also see the Liberty cap on NY's State flag and a red one in NJ's flag..check it out!
Went to the ceremonial flag raising at obelisco and plaza de mayo today, saw Macri up close and personal. Lots of historic military uniforms, bank playing. Interesting-they use a special embroidered flag with better quality and condition at Obelisco on special days like today, much more photographic and sharper looking.
You can see the flag at city hall when it's not flying on those special days, they keep it in a glass case for all to see...
